What this tool helps you check
An XML sitemap should parse cleanly and give crawlers usable absolute URLs. Enter a public sitemap URL to inspect its document type, URL or child-sitemap count, duplicate loc entries and missing loc elements. The result covers that file, not every nested sitemap.
How to use it
- Enter an XML sitemap or sitemap index URL
- Review parsing errors, URL counts and duplicate findings
- Correct the source file and resubmit it in search engine tools
Interpreting the result
Very large documents are limited to a bounded download. A sitemap index is checked as one document; linked child sitemaps are not silently fetched. Sitemap membership alone does not guarantee indexing.
Limitations and next steps
Can a sitemap contain duplicate URLs?|The XML may still parse, but repeated loc values waste crawler attention and should be deduplicated.
